Ypeople's range of community care support programmes help young people:

• Overcome mental and emotional well being issues including stress, depression, anxiety and self harm
• Improve confidence, self-esteem and self worth
• Build resilience and develop coping skills
• Enhance emotional literacy and communication skills
• Improve relationships with peers and family
• Minimise isolation and increase their social networks

Youth Services
Ypeople's broad range of support for victims services includes:

• One to one issues-based befriending
• Youth counselling
• Advocacy support
• Access to leisure and recreational activities
• Emotional Literacy Programmes to help young people explore their feelings, thoughts and emotions
• PX2 Programme to help young people understand how their minds work
• Seasons for Growth to help with bereavement
• Stress Management workshops

How to Refer a Young Person
Ypeople operates an open referral system whereby anyone can make a youth services support referral on behalf of a young person. For example, referrals may be made by parents or carers, teachers, social workers, GPs, police officers and youth workers.

Young people are also encouraged to refer themselves.

The young person being referred must meet the following criteria:

• Be between the ages of 12 and 21
• Live in the south west of Glasgow
• Be experiencing issues related to bereavement and violence
• Require support with mental and emotional well being

Referrals for both the one-to-one issue-based befriending and youth counselling service are made via a referral form. To receive a referral form please contact the Calm Project on 0141 565 1525 or email
